Coating
Failure Analysis in the Field and in the Lab
(Available as an open-registration course or through private
contract. Eligible for 1.6 IACET CEUs.)
Premature coating failures can cause serious, costly consequences: money, downtime, repair and replacement costs, and worst of all, legal fees and red tape. KTA's two-day "Management of Coating Failures" analyzes the primary causes of coatings failure, the testing and documentation required in a field investigation, the role of the laboratory, and the management of the failure itself. The course also covers the assessment of options and solutions. Actual failures (case studies) are the focus of day two, followed by a workshop where small teams of participants attempt to resolve three separate failures. Since many coating failures open the door to conflict, the course ends with an interactive session on dispute resolution.
Course Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the course, participants should be able to:
KTA's "Management of Coating Failures" offers two days of intensive, interactive analysis of premature and catastrophic coating failures led by skilled, experienced instructors. Recommended for coating contractors, engineers, specification writers, coating suppliers, quality control and quality assurance personnel, and all who deal with the aftermath of a coating failure.
Successful Course Completion and the Award of 1.6 CEUs:
To successfully complete the course and be awarded 1.6 IACET CEUs (the International Association of Continuing Education and Training, Continuing Education Units), a participant must attend all instruction-led sessions, participate fully in all activities, complete all assignments, complete a written evaluation of the course, and score a 75% or better on the final, fifty question objective test. For participants meeting all requirements, but receiving a score lower than 75% on the final test, a certificate of attendance will be issued, but no CEUs will be awarded. Special mentoring/review sessions are available to participants.
