Any worker who is involved in construction and demolition activities that may disturb lead-containing paint resulting in an airborne exposure above the Action Level is required to receive initial and annual training in order to comply with the OSHA Lead Standard 29 CFR 1926.62. This training course is based on training topics required by the OSHA Interim Final Rule on Lead Exposure in Construction, but it is tailored to meet site-specific issues as required by OSHA.

Course topics include:

• The content of the standard and its appendices
• Work activities which could result in exposure to lead
• Purpose, selection, fitting, use and limitations of respirators
• Purpose and description of medical surveillance
  
• Health effects associated with exposure to lead
  
• Engineering and work practice controls
  
• Instruction on chelating agents
  
• Information on the content of any compliance plan in effect
  
• Other metals in paints which may be toxic such as cadmium and chromium
