Keyence VHX-500
The Keyence VHX-500 is a digital microscope with several noteworthy abilities and functions. Several of the more useful capabilities of the Keyence Microscope are the two detachable lenses. The first lens is a standard power lens ranging in magnification from 20X to 200X. The second is a hi-powered lens ranging from 100X to 1000X in magnification. The stage of the microscope can be manipulated to rotate the sample as well as the lens holder. The lens apparatus can be removed and the scope held by hand to allow access for larger samples. The image is recorded as a jpeg, which can be viewed on most computers. The digital format allows for easy photo cropping and transmission via e-mail.
The picture quality of the Keyence VHX-500 is much better in general and in particular with differentiating darker colors. Some of the photos from the KTA Challenge have been taken using the Keyence equipment. Click on the picture for a larger view.
