Zinc-Rich Primers for Bolted, Slip-Critical Connections
KTA-Tator, Inc. (KTA), a leader in the independent testing of industrial protective coatings and linings for over 50 years now provides the coatings industry with slip coefficient and tension creep testing of zinc-rich primers for slip critical connections. KTA was audited and approved to perform the testing protocol by the AASHTO-NTPEP Structural Steel Coatings Working Group on August 21 and 22, 2003.
Invented, designed and built by Dr. Karl H. Frank (a recognized expert in the field of slip coefficient and tension creep), the apparatus and testing procedures employed by KTA meet the requirements of Appendix A of the Specification for Structural Joints Using ASTM A325 or A490 Bolts, prepared by the Research Council on Structural Connections (June 23, 2000). Coatings can be qualified for Class B or Class A Slip, using ASTM A490 or A325 Bolts, employing testing devices equipped with the latest digital/electronic technology to ensure repeatability and reproducibility.
Our trained, professional staff provides turnkey service for "slip and creep" testing, including:

- Coating Application (using a semi-automated spray arm to control thickness)
