Features The Case of The Ice Rink Roof That Lost Its Shine KTA-Tator, Inc. (KTA) was contracted to investigate a reported coating failure. The case involved a college sports arena that included an enclosed ice rink within the facility. The existing paint of the interior roof structure was reportedly peeling from the metal surfaces and allowing rust to form on the structural steel. The facility was approximately 12 years old, and the coatings were thought to be original. KTA was asked to provide an independent third party investigation of the coating problems and recommend the best method of preparing the structure for repainting. KTA Coating Consultant Rick Huntley discusses how the proper management of a coating failure can result in an invaluable learning experience that will help to preserve your most valuable resources: TIME AND MONEY! OSHA Proposes Revised Respiratory Standards In an effort to prevent thousands of injuries and illnesses and hundreds of deaths annually from chronic diseases such as cancer, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has proposed a new rule to strengthen worker protections from respiratory hazards in the workplace. KTA Laboratory Performs Slip Coefficient and Tension Creep Testing of Zinc-Rich Primers KTA is pleased to announce an exciting new capability: Slip Coefficient and Tension Creep Testing. KTA has been approved by the AASHTO-NTPEP Structural Steel Coatings Working Group to provide independent slip coefficient and tension creep testing of zinc-rich primers for use on slip-critical joints.
