New
Safety and Health Program Requirement
Being Implemented by Industrial Facilities
Many facility owners of Petrochemical Refineries are now requiring contractors
to have and implement a safety and health program that meets the criteria
of 29 CFR 1910, General Industry Standard. 29 CFR 1910 focuses on work
performed in industrial facilities.
If you wish to work in refineries participating in this new initiative, your current Safety and Health Program (tailored to 29 CFR 1926) MAY NOT PASS THE AUDIT REQUIREMENTS.
What is different about these program requirements? The content of the 29 CFR 1910 program is substantially different, and in most cases, more stringent than that required for construction projects. In this newly emphasized program, facility owners may conduct site audits to ensure compliance in the field. This occurs in addition to the normal program submittals.
KTA's Environmental, Health & Safety Group will assist you in preparing for this new requirement. KTA's help includes program development, site-specific requirement modifications, and monitoring services. KTA has completely re-written many of the chapters in its safety and health program to meet the General Industry Standard. This newly offered program also includes three added areas of concern. These are:
